કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
(૧) એક વાત સુણો વ્રજવાસી રે પુરુષોત્તમ બોલ્યા પ્રીતે
૧૯૭૪. તા. ૪/૬ની રાત્રે ભારતીય સમય અનુસાર ૨:૦૯ થી ૫:૨૫ વાગ્યા સુધી ચંદ્રગ્રહણ થવાનું હતું. અલગ દેશને કારણે ઊભા થતા સમય-તફાવત (time difference) મુજબ આફ્રિકામાં રાત્રે સાડા ત્રણ વાગ્યાથી ગ્રહણનો સ્પર્શ થતો હતો. છતાં સ્વામીશ્રી તો રાત્રે ૨:૦૫ વાગ્યાથી ગ્રહણની સભા માટે ગોઠવાઈ ગયા! નાના નિયમ પાળવામાં પણ તેઓનો ઉત્સાહ અમાપ અને તકેદારી સૂક્ષ્મ રહેતાં.
આ સભામાં તેઓએ ‘પુરુષોત્તમ બોલ્યા પ્રીતે...’ પદ પર ત્રણ કલાક સુધી નિરૂપણ કરીને હદ વાળી દીધી. સવા ત્રણ કલાક જેટલી લાંબી સભા, મધ્યરાત્રિનો સમય અને વાતાવરણમાં શીત લહર – છતાં આ આખા કાર્યક્રમમાં તેઓએ કોઈની આંખ મીંચાવા દીધી નહીં. ગ્રહણમુક્તિ બાદ તેઓની કથા પૂરી થઈ ત્યારે સૌના મુખેથી એક જ ઉદ્ગાર સરી પડ્યો: “આખી રાત પલકારાની જેમ કેવી રીતે પસાર થઈ ગઈ!”
‘कालः पिबति तद्रसम् ।’ – કાળ રસને ખાઈ જાય છે. પણ એ કાળનેય ચાવી જાય એવો રસ આજની કથામાં સ્વામીશ્રીએ મૂકી દીધેલો.

(1) Ek vāt suṇo Vrajvāsī re Puruṣhottam bolyā prīte
June 4, 1974. At night, according to Indian time, from 2:09 to 5:25, there was going to be a lunar eclipse. Due to the time difference, the eclipse would start at 3:30 in Africa. Regardless, Swamishri seated himself in the sabhā at 2:05 at night. Swamishri was vigilant to observing such small niyams and never faltered.
In this sabhā, Swamishri explained the kirtan ‘Purushottam Bolyā Prite’ for three hours. The sabhā lasted 3.25 hrs during the night, yet Swamishri ensured that no one fell asleep. After the eclipse, everyone’s singular comment was: “How did this night pass like the blink of an eye?”
Such was the absorbing nature of Swamishri’s kathā that everyone lost track of time.

(૨) એક વાત સુણો વ્રજવાસી રે પુરુષોત્તમ બોલ્યા પ્રીતે
અક્ષરધામનું ભાથું
તા. ૨૬/૮ના રોજ સાનફ્રાન્સિસ્કોથી લૉસ એન્જેલસ પધારેલા પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજે અહીં પ્રથમ વ્હિટિયરમાં આવેલા આપણા મંદિરે દર્શન કર્યાં. ત્યારબાદ તેઓ રાધાકૃષ્ણ મંદિરે યોજાયેલી સ્વાગત-સભામાં સૌનું અભિવાદન સ્વીકારી, તા. ૨૮/૮ના રોજ રોપ-વે દ્વારા જઈ પહોંચ્યા – દસ હજાર ફૂટની ઊંચાઈએ આવેલા ‘પામ સ્પ્રિંગ’ પર્વત પર.
ઊર્ધ્વગતિ થાય એટલે વાતાવરણ આપમેળે બદલાતું હોય છે – મનનું અને જગતનું પણ. તેથી આટલે ઊંચે આબોહવા આહ્લાદક બની ગઈ હોવાથી થોડી વાર સુધી ભક્તો પર્વતના ખભે ખેલ્યા. તે પછી એક સુયોગ્ય સ્થાને ડાબરા ઉત્સવની સભા શરૂ થઈ. તેમાં સ્વામીશ્રીની આસપાસ સૌ ગોઠવાઈ ગયા એટલે સંતોએ કીર્તનની રમઝટ બોલાવી. તેને અનુસરતાં પ્રાસંગિક પ્રવચનો થયાં.
અંતે પર્વતની ટોચ પરથી અમૃતધારા વહેતી કરતાં સ્વામીશ્રી બોલ્યા, “સર્વોપરીપણાની બહુ સારી વાતો થઈ. આ વાત આજે સમજો કે ગમે ત્યારે સમજો પણ સમજ્યે જ છૂટકો છે. આ વાત સમજાઈ જશે પછી વાંધો નહીં આવે. હરદ્વાર આવતાં ગંગાનું પાણી એટલું બધું નીતર્યું થઈ જાય કે પ્રતિબિંબ સ્પષ્ટ દેખાય. એમ શ્રીજીમહારાજને વિષે દૃઢ નિષ્ઠા થાય પછી બ્રહ્મનો પ્રકાશ થાય ને એક વખત વસ્તુ બરાબર બેઠી પછી એની પાછળ તનતોડ મહેનત થાય. જ્યાં આવીને બેસવું ત્યાં સંશય રહે તો અક્ષરધામમાં જવાય નહીં.”
આટલું કહી સામે બેઠેલા એક હરિભક્તને ઉદ્દેશી સ્વામીશ્રી બોલ્યા, “શું ગોવિંદ (વઘાસિયા)! અક્ષરધામ જોયું?”
“હા, આ સામે બેઠું એ જ!”
આ ઉદ્ગારના પ્રતિભાવમાં સ્વામીશ્રી હસી પડ્યા. એ હાસ્યનો પડઘો ચોતરફ ફેલાયેલી પર્વતમાળાએ પાડ્યો. તેમાંથી જાણે એક જ ધ્વનિ સંભળાઈ રહ્યો: “એટલું જ સમજવાનું છે.”
આ પડઘો શમ્યો ત્યાં તો સ્વામીશ્રીની વાણી ખળખળ વહેવા માંડી કે:
“પોતાને અક્ષરરૂપ માન્યા પછી અક્ષર ક્યાં છેટું છે? ઉપર છે એ દેખાતું નથી ને અહીં બેઠા છે તે મનાતા નથી. આમાં પ્રતીતિ આવી પછી અક્ષરધામમાં જ બેઠા છીએ. મનુષ્ય શરીર ધરીને બેઠા હોય ત્યારે આપણી જેમ જ ઊઠતા, બેસતા હોય, એટલે મનાય નહીં. પણ આપણને જે મળ્યા છે તેનાથી અક્ષરધામની પ્રાપ્તિ થવાની જ છે. ભગવાન ને સત્પુરુષ વિષે આત્મબુદ્ધિ થઈ એટલે નિરાવરણ. આજે આ દિવ્ય સ્મૃતિ મળી. આટલું સાંભરે તોય અક્ષરધામનું ભાથું.”
પર્વતની જેમ સ્વામીશ્રીની વાતોએ પણ આજે ઊંચાઈ પકડેલી, ખુલ્લા આકાશની જેમ તેઓ પણ સ્વ-સ્વરૂપની ખુલ્લી વાતો કરી રહ્યા. વહેતા પવનને જેમ સૌ શ્વાસોમાં ભરી રહેલા તેમ આ વાતોને પણ સૌએ હૈયામાં ભંડારી દીધી, કારણ કે જીવ માટે તો તે શુદ્ધ હવાથીયે વિશેષ જીવનદાયી હતી ને!
સ્વામીશ્રીની આવી અમૃતવાણી બપોરના દોઢ વાગ્યે વિરમી ત્યાં જ સંતોના કંઠે કીર્તન ઊપડ્યું: ‘પુરુષોત્તમ બોલ્યા પ્રીતે...’ તે સાંભળી પોરસાઈ ઊઠેલા સ્વામીશ્રી પુનઃ અક્ષરબ્રહ્મના સગુણ-નિર્ગુણપણાની તથા શ્રીજીમહારાજના સર્વોપરીપણાની વાતોનો મેઘ વરસાવવા લાગ્યા.
આ વાતોમાં “અવતારમાત્ર એક પગે ઊભા રહીને મહારાજની સ્તુતિ કરે છે” એ વાક્ય બોલતાં બોલતાં તો સ્વામીશ્રી સ્વયં ઊભા થઈ ગયા અને તેઓએ એક પગે ઊભા રહી, બે હાથ ઊંચા કરવાના અભિનય સાથે સર્વોપરીપણાની સમજણ દૃઢાવી. તેઓનું આ અલૌકિક દર્શન પણ સૌ માટે અક્ષરધામનાં ભાથાં સમાન બની રહ્યું!

(2) Ek vāt suṇo Vrajvāsī re Puruṣhottam bolyā prīte
The Provisions for the Journey (Bhathu) to Akshardham
August 26, 1984. Pramukh Swami Maharaj arrived in Los Angeles from San Francisco. He first did darshan in the Whittier mandir. Then, after accepting a warm welcome in the Radha-Krishna mandir, he arrived at the top of Palm Springs mountain via ‘ropeway’ (Aerial Tramway - a cable car).
When one ascends, the environment changes - for both the mind and the world. The setting was scenic, so the devotees enjoyed the fresh air. Then, at a convenient spot, a satsang sabha was held. The swamis sat around Swamishri and started singing kirtans. Speeches related to the kirtans were also delivered.
At the end, Swamishri showered his blessings, “These were good talks of Maharaj’s supremacy. Whether you understand this today or whenever, there is no liberation until you understand it. Once this is understood, there will be no problems. When the water of the River Ganga flows toward Hardwar, it becomes so clear that one can see their reflection clearly. Similarly, when one develops firm faith in Shriji Maharaj, then one sees the light of Brahma; and when one realizes this firmly, then one endeavors for it without a care for the body. If one has doubts about where one is going to go, then one cannot go to Akshardham.”
Saying this much, Swamishri referred to one devotee and said, “Govind (Vaghasiya), have you seen Akshardham?”
“Yes, sitting in front of me!”
Swamishri started to laugh in response. The laughter seemed to confirm: “That is all one needs to understand.”
After Swamishri’s echoing laughter subsided, Swamishri once again started:
“When one believes one’s self is Akshar, then is Akshar(dham) far? One cannot see (the Akshardham) that is in the sky, and one does not believe in (the Akshardham) that is sitting here. If one believes in the manifest form, then one is sitting in Akshardham. When he comes in the human form, then he stands, sits, etc. just like a human; therefore, one does not believe. But one will attain Akshardham by believing in who we have attained. When one develops ātma-buddhi in Bhagwan and the Sant, then one is enlightened. You have gained a divine memory today. If one remembers at least this much, then this is the provision for the journey to Akshardham.”
Swamishri openly revealed his divinity in the midst of the cool breeze at the top of a mountain. The devotees ‘packed’ the vital talk into their hearts, for it was more beneficial to their life than the air.
After Swamishri’s blessings at 1:30 pm, the swamis started singing another kirtan: ‘Puruṣhottam bolyā prīte...’
Hearing the kirtan, Swamishri once again started to speak about the sagun and nirgun forms of Aksharbrahma and the supremacy of Shriji Maharaj. Swamishri said, “All of the avatars stand on one leg and extol the glory of Maharaj.” So saying, Swamishri stood up and stood on one leg, raised both his hands and demonstrated exactly how the avatars extol Maharaj’s glory. This darshan smruti also became the ‘bhathu’ of Akshardham.
